Poker Blogs

There are thousands upon thousands of Poker blogs out there and I couldn't possibly begin to tell you which are the best ones to read. I suggest you head to Google's blog search and start browsing. Most of the pros have a blog of some sort where they share their latest activities as well as articles on strategy. What I can share with you is the Poker blogs that I read or was involved in while I was really into poker.

My most successful poker related website was Adelaide Poker:

http://adelpoker.blogspot.com/

This blog is to provide a central location for upcoming local games, interesting facts, links and anything else to do with poker that will benefit Adelaide Poker Players. Please Enjoy the site.

I recently added some posts after not working on it for over 2 1/2 years. Despite the extended break it still appears on the first page for Adelaide Poker related searches.

My personal poker blog; 'Get a Real Job.'

http://morrismo.blogspot.com/

In 41 glorious posts I chronicle the ups and downs of my short and uneventful poker career. I wouldn't suggest reading it because its pretty terrible. However, there are a few Gems that you might want to check out:

Bonus Swindling Guide- A guide to the method I used to build my bankroll from $300 to over $3000 with no poker skills required.

Casino Bonuses List- The list that goes with the guide above.

Casino Bonuses Played- A journal of how I built my bankroll using the Guide and the List linked to above.

If you're looking for inspiration, you simply can't go past the Law School Dropout blog. Extremely well written, funny, interesting and above all inspiring, this blog chronicles one man's journy from playing low limit online poker to sitting in some of the biggest Live and Online NL and L games in the world.

I suggest you start at the beginning (that is the last page of the blog) and work backwards through the pages to the first page which is the most recent post... about a year or so ago.

The final recommendation I will make in this post is for Sound of a Suckout. This blog used to have quite a following as the author was both an accomplished poker player and the go-to-guy for Bonus Swindling (mentioned above). When the anti gambling laws came into force in the US he was forced to remove many of the parts of his blog that made it great and he lost a lot of readers. Still its a good place to go to read about a guy who's juggling poker and life and who's seen quite a few hands along the way.

Dumbies Guide To Blogging

I've decided to add this thread called 'Dumbies Guide To Blogging.' I will add step by step tutorials on how to do various blogging things as I learn how to do them myself- as remember I am just another "dummy" also, trying to learn blogs. If anyone has a tutorial they have written themselves which is simple enough for us newbies, just drop me a comment and I'd be happy to include it in the thread.

1. How To Edit Your Link List

Many people have expressed that they are having trouble editing their link list. I had similar problems when I first started blogging and I didn't find blogger help to be over helpful, so hopefully this tutorial with straighten everyone out.

Step 1.

Click on the tab "template" in the blog edition section as in the image above.

Step 2.

Scroll down the html script using the scroll bar on the right until you reach a section of the script shown below. This should be about 3/4 of the way down.

Step 3.

The "sidebar" is where you are going to want to put your links. At the bottom of the box above you will notice that it says "begin profile container," this may not appear on every blog template. If a profile appears on your blog then you will have this in your script, if not you won't. If you do, scroll on past it and then refer to step four, if you don't, go straight on to step 4.

Step 4.

Simply add the code that you see in the box above into the code in your template at the location indicated in steps 3 & 4. Change the links and link labels as appropriate to accomodate your own links. You can copy and paste the link line of code underneath your existing links to add more links, but it must remain within the ul tags.

I hope this tutorial has been helpful to you. If there is anything that seems unclear, kindly drop me a comment so I can help you out and also improve the tutorial for other people. Please leave some feedback, positive or negative... was it too simple? Did the pictures help? Was the explanation clear? Cheers.

Battle of the Stat Counters

You may notice, if you take a trip to the bottom of the blog, that I have added a bunch of different stat counters. I have decided to add all the stat counters a can find and determine which one is the best, so others will know which one to pick for their blogs.

These counters are all free, and I found them by simply googling "free stat counter." So far I'd have to say the best is statcounter, the one in my footer there, as it provides the largest amount of data.

I will keep you updated with the best performing stat counters as the battle continues. If you know of any stat counters which you'd like to see battle it out, drop me a comment and I'll add it in.

Blog of the Week!

Blog of the week for this week is Svodoba. The award goes to this blog this week because, the author, "svodoba" was the person who made the best suggestion for a way to spruce up my blog of the week/ month section, by replying to my question in the thread; "the blog that morris built." This is where I enlist bloggers to help me out in improving my blog, your help would be much appreciated.

Svodoba is a blog about weird and interesting photos and includes commetry on these photos. Unfortunately the blog is in Spanish, yet the photo's are still cool to look at even if you can't read the text. If you can read spanish, then all the better. Svodoba encourages people to leave comments even in English because he speaks English also.

So go on over and check out Svodoba, and if you leave comment, let him know that The Greatest Blog Experiment sent you. Enjoy!

Random Link Button

If you've had a look over in the sidebar to the right ----->>>>>
you may have noticed that I have added a button called 'RANDOM LINK.' If you click on this button you will automatically be redirected through one of the links on my site at random. I do mean ANY link. This is a great way to browse through the blogs I have listed on the site, however it will also take you to previous posts etc. as they are links on the site too. There is a way for me to limit it to only the blogs, but it's slightly more complicated and takes a lot longer- I will probably do this in the future.

Now I'm sure you're probably wondering how the hell I did it, right? Well, what I'd like to tell you is that "I wrote an extremely complicated super data code in Java Script which was only possible because I am an expert computer programmer," however, this is not that case. What happened, was that I came across a website that provides FREE Java Script codes for people to use. This stuff is really awsome, and there are tonnes to choose from that do all sorts of amazing things, and best of all its so easy even a beggining blogger can do it. So if you want to check out the awsome amazing free java scripts, simply click on the link in the sidebar.

Check it Out...

Check out tutor's blog, Window's XP Tips for a bunch of great tips for enhancing and improving the running of your computer. This blog was one of the first 10 blogs I added, as you can see by looking at the link category in the sidebar called 'First 10 Blogs Added.' Tutor's blog has a special index page which makes navigation of all his tips and tutorials so much easier.

One particular tip that I thought was pretty cool, is one that tells you how to make Star Wars play in your run window. What The? I hear you say... Thats right, someone has somehow gone to the trouble of recreating Star Wars (actually only half of it) out of little computer script characters, its really pretty cool. A Great little bit of excitement if you're bored. If you are a Star Wars fan, or just want to see something different and interesting, you should really Check It Out...

Enjoy!
